By Any Means Necessary?

The Leftists in America are becoming unhinged:

Churchill said Fascism would take root in the West under the guise of anti-Fascism…

My real concern here is the rise of the radical left – those people who believe that their cause is so good that it justifies any means.  It’s a rapidly growing idea and movement with a campaign to harass, intimidate, and threaten anyone who dares disagree with it.  This is the type of reactionary stuff that portends a shift toward tyranny.

A quote worth remembering… from Glenn Reynolds:

The lefties will miss civil society when it’s gone.

Chicago in Concert in Dayton, Ohio
Sunday, May 21st, 2017 | Author:

We attended the Chicago concert at the Rose Music Center last night with a couple of our friends.  It’s hard to believe that the jazz/rock band is celebrating 50 years.  It was a sold-out concert that was extremely well received by the fans.  I’d have to admit that the 9-piece band has some very talented musicians.

I recently had the opportunity to talk about additive manufacturing at the RAPID conference in Pittsburgh…  A couple of photos of the downtown looking towards the baseball stadium along with a view of the conference exhibit hall.

Affirmative Action vs Meritocracy
Monday, May 08th, 2017 | Author:

I’ve explained to many a person, that our culture is still enamored with false pretenses and virtue signaling (also known as Political Correctness). Unfortunately, many day-to-day decisions at universities, government, and other large organizations have very little to do with considering merit.  A good example is the reduction of staff at ESPN:

ESPN NFL reporter Ed Werder, one of the most prominent faces among the layoffs last month, said in a podcast that he heard quality of work would not be a consideration when employees were let go. He lamented that “it seemed to me that quality work should be the only consideration.” Not in this America, the one ruled by social-media perception and dismissive of the real world.

Are Democrats and Republicans the Same?
Tuesday, May 02nd, 2017 | Author:

I often say that most Republicans are the same as Democrats, except they proclaim that “we can run big Government more efficiently”… I’ll give credit here to Rush Limbaugh when he confronted Vice President Pence about the recent Federal budget that supports big Government:

“If this is what happens, Mr. Vice President, why vote Republican?… What is the point of voting Republican if the Democrats are gonna continue to win practically 95 percent of their objectives, such as in this last budget deal?”

Who are the Bad Guys?
Tuesday, May 02nd, 2017 | Author:

Who knows? Perhaps there is still hope in the world… a writer in the Chicago Tribute has observed the obvious:

For years, the left has warned that it would be conservatives who would take away people’s basic rights like the right to free speech… The end of American liberty would come at the hands of the political right. Conservatives would take away our right to speak our minds, and use the power of government to silence dissent…

But the lie is obvious now, isn’t it?

Because it is not conservatives who coerced today’s young people or made them afraid of ideas that challenge them. Conservatives did not shame people into silence, or send thugs out on college campuses to beat down those who wanted to speak.

The left did all that.
