Ignorant of Economics and Everything Else
Friday, September 30th, 2011 | Author:

I still remember late 2008, sitting around the kitchen table talking about the prospects of having a Democrat President when my sibling from New York exclaimed “you have to admit that he’s a really smart man!”

I was startled.

I said “A deep voice and the ability to read from a teleprompter are insufficient to conclude anything about one’s intellect.”

Well, it appears that the truth is emerging… some observations from Division of Labor:

I’ve been saying for some time that Barack Obama is the most economically ignorant president since Zachary Taylor, but I increasingly fear I’ve been doing the general a disservice. It’s not just erroneous economics, but sheer ignorance of markets and economics.

One Man’s View of Stereotypes
Monday, September 26th, 2011 | Author:

An interesting story in Taki’s Magazine where the author discusses his experiences supporting the “downtrodden”.  An excerpt:

Power may corrupt, but powerlessness can make you a nasty asshole, too. Spend enough time around “the people,” and you realize it’s a fool’s errand trying to defend them. I realized he, and so many like him, had no potential waiting to be realized. For the first time in my life, I also realized there’s a reason the Third World came in third.

The 10 Commandments in the Courthouse
Friday, September 23rd, 2011 | Author:

The real reason that we can’t have the Ten Commandments posted in a courthouse is this — you cannot post ‘Thou Shalt Not Steal’ ‘Thou Shalt Not Commit Adultery’ and ‘Thou Shall Not Lie’ in a building full of lawyers, judges and politicians, it creates a hostile work environment.
