Sudden Jihad Syndrome – Another Update

Update – Is this another case of Sudden Jihad Syndrome? Since it’s becoming so common place, you may have missed this story: a Moslem cultural-anthropology grad student, stabbed to death Dr. Richard Antoun of Binghamton University.   Dr. Antoun was a retired professor of anthropology with a specialty in comparative religion.   Do you think it had something to do with a grade he received from the professor?

Nov 10, 2009 – There have been so many incidents that I’ve stopped trying to update this running log…  nevertheless, the recent travesty committed by Mr. Hasan at Ft. Hood triggered me to update this posting.  I think the term “Sudden Jihad Syndrome” is very appropriate (and, of course, very unsettling). It’s a situation where a seemingly integrated Moslem-American discards his apparent assimilation into American society and chooses to follow the Koran in an act of messianic violence.

Feb 19, 2007 – A Moslem cab driver in Nashville, Tennesseehas been arrested for running over two customers after a fight over religion became heated.  “Ibrihim Ahmned, of United Cab, was arrested and charged with assault, attempted homicide and theft. One of the passengers, Andrew Nelson, managed to outrun the cab but Jeremy Invus was taken to the Vanderbilt University Medical Center with serious injuries.”

I suppose that I should feel fortunate that I didn’t get into any major disagreements with the Moslem cab drivers that I had during my trip to New Orleans in January.  If you recall, I had lengthy discussions with these visitors from Jordan and Egypt and posted my summaries here and here.  Based on my prior first-hand experiences, I can imagine what transpired in Nashville.

Feb 13, 2006 – You may recall that in August 2006, I wrote about the emergence of Moslems that suddenly kill Americans for no obvious reason… We don’t know all the facts yet, but it appears that the recent killings at a mall in Utahwere from a Bosnian Moslem.  Don’t be surprised when the media discovers that this crazy Moslem was motivated based on religious grounds

Aug 6, 2006 – Beware the seemingly rational Moslem… Daniel Pipes has dubbed “Sudden Jihad Syndrome,” in which a seemingly non-violent Moslem erupts in a murderous rampage:

Naveed Haq, forced his way into the offices of the Jewish Federation of Greater Seattle where he killed one person and wounded four others.  He remarked, “I’m tired of getting pushed around and our people getting pushed around by the situation in the Middle East.”

Mohammed Taheri-azar, a philosophy and psychology major at the University of North Carolina, deliberately rammed a car into a crowd of students, saying he wanted to “avenge the death of Muslims around the world.”

Michael Julius Ford opened fire in a Denver warehouse, killing one person and injuring five. His sister Khali told the Denver Post. “He told me that Allah was going to make a choice and it was going to be good and told me people at his job was making fun of his religion.”

Hasan Akbar, a sergeant in the 101st Airborne Division, who attacked his fellow soldiers at an American command center in Kuwait with grenades and rifle fire, killing one and wounding 15.

Hesham Ali Hadayet, who killed two people when he shot up the El Al ticket counter at the Los Angeles airport in 2002.

Ali Hasan Abu Kamal, who was carrying a note denouncing “Zionists” and others who “must be annihilated & exterminated” when he opened fire on the observation deck of the Empire State Building.
