I’m constantly telling my buddy, Pilly, that hockey officiating is starting to look more and more like basketball officiating — i.e., the calls by the referees are not only terribly inconsistent, but the penalty calls frequently raise eyebrows… Well, here is a short video from a Detroit-Chicago game where the referee not only called a penalty — where it was hardly warranted — but he had the audacity to call a penalty shot that changed the outcome of the game.

I agree that is one of the worst calls I have seen in many years of watching hockey at several levels and also some low level playing! One might conclude that ref was on Chicago\’s payroll!
