Thanks to my buddy Alan, I was able to attend the big “whiteout” game at UD Arena. It’s amazing what the Flyers can do when they’re “playing on all cylinders”. Just about every Flyer contributed to this big win against their arch-rival located 50 miles down I-75… In many ways this game was very similar to the victory against 6th-ranked Pittsburgh from a couple of years ago.
For me, the game was made even more interesting since I sat next to Dayton Daily News sportswriter Hal McCoy. Hal has covered the Cincinnati Reds for over 37 years. I confessed to him that I wasn’t much of a baseball fan, but I told him about the baseball fanaticism of my father-in-law (Since Hal attends a Dayton hockey game every now and then, we found a common bond). We analyzed just about every play and UD turnover during the game. Of course, when you beat Xavier by 25 there’s not much for complaining.
