According to an article in USA Today, the Columbus Blue Jackets have hired Ken Hitchcock as their new head coach… Given Hitchcock’s reputation as a disciplinarian and his success at getting some of his previous NHL teams (Dallas Stars, Philadelphia Flyers) to the Stanley Cup, I think that he’s the right kind of coach for Columbus.
I am glad. He does have a reputation as being a disciplinarian. As the AP described he is seen as a disciplinarian who sets high expectations for his players and then grinds at them until they reach them. Amen.
According to Scott Burnside: ‘the Blue Jackets have a man behind the bench who is a commanding presence, a man with a proven track record, a man who’s not the GM’s buddy and a man who will, quite frankly, kick some butt.’
Let’s see what happens so I don’t have to ask for a refund on my season tickets…
