I just spent a few days at a business conference in New Orleans. This was a summit on “Design for Six Sigma” and I co-presented the interim results from one of our projects. While it was not a large meeting, it was attended by representatives from some top companies such as Hewlett Packard, Dell, Whirlpool, Ford, Raytheon, etc.
Since the conference was hosted at the Marriott at the Convention Center, I was able to visit Emeril’s Restaurant for dinner (Thanks Kelley) and tour the French Quarter. My last visit to New Orleans took place in August of 2005, a couple of weeks prior to the Katrina hurricane. While it appeared that there was very little damage to the business district or other parts of the city near the Mississippi River, I must say that it looked like a ghost town.
