With the recent pronouncement that global warming is an absolute truth, I’ve encountered two great articles that comment on the rationale. One appeared in the Times of India and the other appeared in Newsweek. The great editorial writer, George Will noted in Newsweek:
“…the Earth warmed about 0.7 degrees Celsius in the 20th century. We do not know the extent to which human activity caused this… Over the millennia, the planet has warmed and cooled for reasons that are unclear but clearly were unrelated to SUVs.”
Meanwhile, S. Anklesaria Aiyar, from the Times of India, comments:
“Almost as soon as the Kyoto Protocol on global warming came into effect on February 15, Kashmir suffered the highest snowfall in three decades with over 150 killed, and Mumbai recorded the lowest temperature in 40 years. Had temperatures been the highest for decades, newspapers would have declared this was proof of global warming. But whenever temperatures drop, the press keeps quiet.”
