A recent commentary from Eileen Toplansky expounds on the notions of Islamists and Leftists uniting in opposition to western values.
Rashida Tlaib and Ilhan Omar being anti-Semitic is not surprising. They both hail from an Islamic world that promotes nonstop hatred of the Jew. Tlaib has skewed the facts about the active Muslim assistance offered to Hitler during the Holocaust. Grand Mufti of Jerusalem Haj Amin el-Husseini met with Hitler as they both worked towards the extermination of the Jews. Moreover, Tlaib has permitted her campaign fundraiser to call Jews “satanic.”
When lhan Omar states “It’s all about the Benjamins, baby,” and asserts that Israel has “hypnotized the world,” she is drawing on the stereotypes that have murdered millions of people in the Holocaust.
Omar and Tlaib are just the most public faces of the ongoing surge that is working to elect jihadist-loving Muslims and bring sharia law to this country.

Growing up in the United States you realize that the most prevalent underlying philosophy of life is based on the Judeo-Christian outlook of “treating others as one’s self would wish to be treated”. It’s not an outlook that is exclusive to citizens of the United States, but it’s been very prevalent in North America and it is fundamentally based on the ethic of reciprocity.
I could never understand why the Leftists and Moslems — with seemingly so many beliefs at odds — were aligned with one another. It finally occurred to me why they are kindred souls. First, they both take a strong position of hating capitalistic western values. Whether it’s Sharia law and the Caliphate or just pure socialism, they want to replace the democratic republic known as the USA. Second, they both operate with the basic underlying philosophy of life that “the ends justify the means”. If you have to lie or cheat to defeat whoever you designate as your enemy, then so be it.
Hence, it may just be as simple as Leftists and Moslems coming to the implicit conclusion that they have a common enemy and they share some basic philosophies of life.
As Bruce Thornton so eloquently summarized, this pact between Progressives and Islam won’t last:
