I recently screened the movie “Avatar”… Am I missing something? Do people really like this movie?
As a fan of the Sci Fi genre, I really appreciated the latest rendition of special effects (note: I saw the 2D version of the movie). However, while watching the movie and listening to the tall blue people yelping, I thought I was watching a movie about the Cowboys and Indians. The storyline was a second-rate mix of “Dances with Wolves” along with the cartoonish crap we saw in the three Star Wars prequels.
I really like a good Sci Fi (Star Wars, Star Trek, Blade Runner, etc.)… Perhaps it’s my curmudgeon outlook on life, but after the first 20 minutes, I just got bored with this movie.
I would give Avatar a B- (without the special effects, it would have dropped to a C).
