Last night, we went to see the movie “A Mighty Heart” about the kidnapping, search for, and death of Wall Street Journal reporter, Daniel Pearl. The movie focused more on the search for Pearl, and the dramatic measures that the Pakistanis took in trying to find him. If I didn’t know better, the movie’s primary message was “aren’t the Pakistani police noble?” To its credit, the movie did indicate that the Moslems murdered Pearl because he was Jewish.
I not only felt that the storyline was weak, but the cinematography just about drove me nuts. It appears to be very common for directors these days to use hand-held cameras to ensure that they invoke the nouveau appearance in movies. For me, it reminds me of watching my parent’s home movies where you become nauseous after five minutes. Overall, I would give the movie a “C -“.
Good review.
