I went to the Flyers game with my buddy Steve Weiss last night, and we watched the hometown Dayton team whip the Rhode Island Rams 92-83 in front of a full house at UD Arena. We were among the ever-present Flyer Faithful who stood for major portions of the game cheering the Flyers to victory… Once again, I really enjoy seeing Dayton basketball recognized in the sports headlines — and I really know that Barry and Daryl are enjoying it even more:
The box score will show Brian Roberts leading with 23 points, but he had moments in the game where he really appeared tired playing both the point guard and leading the scoring attack (Note: he had 7 turnovers). Dayton shot a blistering 75% from the field during the first half, and finished the game at an excellent 62%
The good-news/bad-news story is that the Flyers have been able to win these tough contests against nationally ranked teams without their star freshman, Chris Wright. Unfortunately, Wright was starting to get back into the flow of playing ball again in the game against Rhode Island, but he appeared to re-injure his ankle in the first half of the game.
