Flyers Lose Must-Win Game

Len and I went to UD Arena to watch the Dayton Flyers battle the 12th ranked Xavier Musketeers in a game that was pivotal for the Flyers’ chances for the NCAA tournament.   Unfortunately, XU was a much more athletic team (as well as better at the foul line) as they beat the Flyers 57-51

This was one of the six games where we have our seats on press row, which offers us a great opportunity for watching the action up close.  As you can see from the photo below, I was able to take a quick snapshot of two very good senior-year basketball players (Brian Roberts and Stanley Burrell) as they played aggressively right in front of us.

I played “Japanese tourist” during the game and took plenty of photos for you UD fans…  You can click on the thumbnails below to view a high resolution image of any picture.

What can you say about the Flyers and Brian Gregory?  You have a player like Jimmie Binnie who starts at forward for the Flyers… He would probably be the 9th man off the bench if he played for Xavier.  And you have to give XU credit, they “spread the wealth” among their personnel and they have six players averaging double-digit points.

  1. the 6 players avg double figures – really an amazing statistic…one that might not be repeated in college bball for quite some time. how did UD let Brown get out of dayton to go play for XU…now that’s the question.
