Turbine Engine on a Computer Chip

An article in the BBC News describes how researchers at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology have come up with a novel approach for building an engine on a chip… A laptop that will run for 3 hours on battery charge will run for 15 to 20 hours using the microengine, and it should end up costing no more than current batteries.

The research engineers believe that the microengine could be available commercially within three to five years.
