Shahar Peer, the 19 year old tennis player from Israel, is 16th ranked in the world. She recently beat the 3rd ranked woman in the world, Svetlana Kuznetsova in straight sets, 6-4 and 6-2. Peer’s match prior to that victory was against the 20th in the world, Tatiana Golovin of France. Peer won that match in three sets.
The Israeli men’s doubles team of Jonathan Erlich and Andy Ram is ranked 7th in the world. They recently won their 2nd round match in three sets and will be appearing in a third round match against Bhupathi and Stepanek.
