Meanwhile, many crimes around the world are actually committed with other common devices that are repurposed as weapons, such as automobiles and knives. A city government spokeswoman said a teacher, two parents, and three students were killed in the attack.
The BBC counted “at least 17 knife attacks in schools, colleges and universities since 2010,” including ten over the past five years.

Two college students and a middle-aged man were stabbed to death on the streets of Nottingham, England, early Tuesday morning by a man who then stole a van from one of his victims and plowed into three other people, police said.
The attacker killed two 19-year-old students near the dorms of the University of Nottingham, around 130 miles north of London. A third person, a man in his 50s, was found dead on a different street, and police said the suspect stole the third victim’s van and ran into three others.
