I distinctly remember Zherdev’s goal last season against the Blackhawks and have since considered it one of the best goals I’ve ever seen. Ovechkin’s goal however was almost otherworldly. I don’t know that I’ve seen an equal individual play in any sport. I believe it was ESPN’s play of the year last year – which really says something because ESPN has a tendency to ignore hockey and instead highlight so many football plays, slam dunks, and homeruns.
